Description

Welcome to  The Florida State University Drifter Group. We are a team of scientists investigating the ocean’s circulation at the very surface where transport of pollutants (oil, chemical, toxic blooms, plastics,…) and fish eggs and larvae are usually located. Our new developed instruments allow for precise tracking of the ocean surface flow including the effects of Stokes Drift. Click here to view the drifter trajectories from our first experiment (Gulf of Mexico). Click here to follow the drifter trajectories from our second experiment (Atlantic Ocean). A third experiment was just conducted in the Pacific Ocean in coordination with a team of NOAA scientists and from the University of Washington. NOAA/CIMAS (award number NA15OAR4320064). NASA Rapid Grant. FSU GAP Grant.
